Hee Barbara, *1957 (St. Gallen, Switzerland) Lives in Zurich, works with drawing, sculpture, painting and prints. Zwilling,1987 Oil and lacquer on canvas, 200 x 280 cm © Barbara Hee Barbara Hee's Zwilling (Twin) features an elongated upright elliptical form splitting a pair of roughly twinned rectangles that lean in parallel unison. Her works often feature rectangles, ellipses, triangles and lines yet are not associated with geometric-constructive art, explains the curator Ursula Perucchi. Rather, they function as gestures or sign language like that found in modern expressive dance, "as bearers of a movement that emerges from the body." |
