Knoebel Imi, *1940 (Dessau, Germany) Lives in Düsseldorf, works primarily with painting and sculpture. Projektion 12,1973 Set of 33 monochrome photographs, 24 x 30.5 cm © 2006, ProLitteris, Zürich Projektion 12 is one of Imi Knoebel's series of light projections from the late 1960s and early 1970s, which record sequences of projected rods of light in photographs and on videotape. These developed out of a concentration on lines in his early work, beginning with his purist black-and-white "Line Paintings" while still a student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. |
